Together with other funders, The New York Community Trust has helped create the NYC Green Relief and Recovery Fund at City Parks Foundation to support nonprofits that care for the city’s parks and open spaces. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these nonprofits have been hit with large losses in donations and revenues at the same time that parks and open spaces will face increased usage.
“From taking care of the city’s precious open space to putting green roofs on buildings to tending to our urban forest cover, The Trust has made the creation and stewardship of green spaces a priority for decades,” said Arturo Garcia-Costas, Trust program officer for the environment. “We are honored to help lead this effort to support the hundreds of nonprofits and community groups working to keep our parks safe and healthy during this pandemic and its aftermath.”
