Hundreds of Long Islanders amplify their charitable giving through the The New York Community Trust – Long Island, the community foundation for the region. This year the giving was exceptional with grants totaling $1,340,500.

Long Island Arts Alliance, $15,000.00 funding to update marketing materials promoting arts and culture institutions on Long Island.
Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, $10,000.00 support for a music education summer camp program for needy and worthy student musicians in the Brentwood School District.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Long Island Housing Partnership, $20,000.00 support to advance fair housing through outreach, education, and technical assistance.
Regional Plan Association, $20,000.00 to support affordable housing options in the Long Beach community.
St. Joseph’s College, $40,000.00 to support a hub for research, policy and advocacy on affordable housing.
Uniondale Community Land Trust, $20,000.00 to continue building the organizational capacity to acquire and rehabilitate vacant properties in Uniondale for affordable housing.
Vision Long Island, $15,000.00 for advocacy and coalition-building to support transit-oriented development in Hicksville and Baldwin.
COMMUNITY RESPONSE & SPECIAL PROJECTS
Health and Welfare Council of Long Island, $265,000.00 for funds to be distributed to multiple agencies to coordinate and provide legal services for recently arrived unaccompanied children to Long Island.
Long Island Civic Engagement Fund, $25,000.00 to pool local philanthropic resources to support non-partisan civic engagement efforts on Long Island.
Long Island Immigrant Children’s Fund, $25,000.00 to pool local resources and create a joint grantmaking strategy to support ongoing efforts to bring services and advocacy to recently-arrived immigrant children on Long Island.
Long Island Progressive Coalition, $20,000.00 to promote worker cooperatives on Long Island.
Opioid Crisis Prevention Fund, $30,000.00 to pool local philanthropic resources to address opioid addiction on Long Island.
CONSERVATION AND ENVIRONMENT
All Our Energy, $17,500.00 to eliminate single-use plastic bags and other pollution
in Nassau County.
CDCLI Funding Corporation, $25,000.00 support to test an incentive program to replace outdated cesspool and septic systems in Suffolk County.
Citizens Campaign Fund for the Environment, $22,500.00 for continued support of a
comprehensive campaign to ban products containing the chemical 1,4-dioxane.
Conscience Point Shellfish Hatchery, $15,000.00 to repopulate Southampton Town waters with filter-feeding bivalves to restore water quality.
Cornell Cooperative Extension Suffolk County, $20,000.00 for eelgrass and shellfish restoration in the Great South and Tiana Bays.
Earthplace, Inc., $20,000.00 for data collection to create report cards on the health of
local bays and engage communities to protect them.
Group for the East End, $20,000.00 to encourage East End residents to upgrade septic
systems to reduce nitrogen entering ground and surface waters.
Long Island Pine Barrens Society, Inc., $20,000.00 for a multi-year campaign to create a
Long Island Water Quality Protection Plan.
Peconic Green Growth, $20,000.00 to develop a water conservation plan for the town
of Southold.
Seatuck Environmental Association, $20,000.00 to restore migratory fish habitat in Long Island’s Tributaries.
Sisters of St. Joseph, $20,000.00 for habitat restoration projects on the Sisters of St. Joseph Brentwood campus.
EDUCATION
Bellport Area Community Action Council, $20,000.00 to support STEM-related programs for at-risk boys from North Bellport and surrounding communities.
Board of Cooperative Educational Services Eastern Suffolk, $18,000.00 to provide residents with information about regional facilities, resources, and programs that effectively prepare a skilled workforce for jobs in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Community Action Southold Town, Inc., $20,000.00 for an evidence-based home visiting program to increase literacy and school readiness of young children from low-income families in the Town of Southold.
Girls Inc. of Long Island, $25,000.00 to support life skills and academic enrichment programs for girls in Central Islip and Wyandanch middle schools.
Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club, $15,000.00 to provide a comprehensive college prep
program targeting teens from low-income families in the Locust Valley School District.
Hofstra University Museum, $20,000.00 to continue the Art Travelers program in high-need school districts in Nassau County.
i-tri: Inspirational Triathlon Racing International, $20,000.00 to continue to build self-esteem and healthy habits in middle school girls on the East End of Long Island.
New York Communities for Change, $25,000.00 to mobilize Village of Hempstead parents and students to advocate for education reforms.
Parrish Art Museum, $15,000.00 to create programs and an environment at museums that are accessible and welcoming to youth with developmental disabilities and their families.
Project Morry, $20,000.00 for a leadership development and college preparation program targeting students from North Amityville and Copiague school districts.
Project MOST, $20,000.00 to support an after-school program for elementary and middle school students in East Hampton.
Quality Services for the Autism Community, $20,000.00 to train school staff to work with
children with autism.
HEALTH & MENTAL HEALTH
Concern for Independent Living, $20,000.00 to continue case management services for formerly homeless veterans in Amityville and Ronkonkoma.
Long Island Medical Foundation d/b/a NuHealth Foundation, $50,000.00 to improve comprehensive services for under-served children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
New York Legal Assistance Group, $20,000.00 to provide free legal services at the Northport VA for veterans with mental health issues.
HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS
Health and Welfare Council of Long Island, $25,000.00 support to increase participation in SNAP.
Interfaith Nutrition Network, $20,000.00 to continue connecting soup kitchen clients with social services.
Long Island Cares Inc., $20,000.00 support for the Nassau Service Center food pantry in Freeport.
Maureen’s Haven, $20,000.00 to connect homeless individuals on the East End to supportive housing.
Mercy Haven, Inc., $20,000.00 funding to increase food stamp benefits for low-income households.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
Adelphi University – Center for Nonprofit Leadership, $25,000.00 for a leadership development program for non-profit professionals and community leaders of color.
Catchafire, Inc., $17,500.00 to provide an online platform to match volunteer professionals with our nonprofit partners in a cost-effective manner.
Central Nassau Guidance & Counseling Services, $25,000.00 to support system upgrades and training to improve behavioral health care delivery.
Pro Bono Partnership, Inc., $20,000.00 to continue to provide pro bono legal services to
Long Island nonprofits.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island, Inc., $20,000.00 for a mentoring program to prepare young people for college and careers.
Huntington Youth Bureau Youth Development Research Institute, Inc., $15,000.00 for an
alternative to the juvenile justice court for first time youth offenders.
Parent Action Community, Inc., $20,000.00 to provide educational and support services to adolescent parents from under-resourced communities.
The Safe Center LI, $20,000.00 to provide funding for mental health services to children who are victims of sexual abuse.
The Viscardi Center, Inc., $20,000.00 for an alternative education program for at-risk high
school students that includes vocational and social skills training.
