2025 Annual Report
Working together to drive change.
Our 2025 Annual Report highlights how our community came together to address the region’s challenges. From supporting emergency food programs amid SNAP cuts to achieving major wins for universal child care, this report celebrates how New Yorkers showed up for their neighbors.

“That’s what it means to be human. To care for other humans.”
Tom D’Eletto, M.D. & Joe Arena, Trust donors
Joe, a Trust donor since 1997, and Tom, a donor since 2015, have turned their charitable giving into both an art and a science. Their fund supports organizations and programs that align with their values—groups that feed hungry New Yorkers, provide care for medical patients, conserve wildlife, support LGBTQ+ organizations, and much more. They’ve also included The Trust in their charitable estate planning to ensure those causes are supported in perpetuity.
Why do they give with us? As Tom puts it, “The Trust really cares about the impact you want to have now as well as the legacy you want to leave.”
“When we have philanthropic ideas we want to explore, The Trust is a place we can go where people actively collaborate with us.”
Deborah Ragin & Luther Ragin, Jr., Trust donors
Donors since 2002, Deborah and Luther converted their private family foundation into a fund at The New York Community Trust to carry on their family’s historic commitment to racial and economic justice in the United States. Luther’s relatives played a pivotal part in early school desegregation efforts in the American South, and today their family uses their fund to support a range of arts, cultural, religious, justice, and educational organizations that are contributing to a more just and equitable world.
Philanthropy for all.
"I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and working with many thoughtful, generous people who may not think the term ‘philanthropist’ applies to them. But I disagree...
…Philanthropy works best when people from all walks of life take part. At The Trust, we believe that every gift, made with care and intention, qualifies. It is the thoughtfulness and dedication behind a gift that sets it apart.
A core part of our mission is to help New Yorkers, families, businesses, and other funders give with purpose and impact. While our donors have unique stories, resources, motivations, and goals, what unites them is a desire to help their community and support lasting change.
Our donors also love learning about issues impacting our region, getting expert advice, giving alongside like-minded New Yorkers, and the satisfaction and hope that comes with being a part of The Trust’s community.
Reach out today to get started. Being a philanthropist is easier than you think.”
