Bio

Chantella Mitchell manages the Trust’s grantmaking for initiatives to increase and preserve affordable housing; connect all New Yorkers to economic opportunities, including well-paying jobs; and strengthen social work education and practice. Chantella serves as co-chair of the Change Capital Fund and the NYC Workforce Development Fund.
Prior to working at The Trust, Chantella was an executive director in the Office of Development at the New York City Department of Housing Preservation (HPD), a director of operations at HPD, and a senior budget analyst at the Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Before beginning her career in public service, Chantella worked in both direct service and policy advocacy roles.
Chantella is a native of Memphis, Tennessee, and moved to New York in 2013. She received a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University.
