Women’s History Month honors the contributions of the women and girls who have built, changed, and demanded better from our culture and society. We urge you to support these nonprofits advocating for health justice, supporting survivors of gender-based violence, and empowering new generations in New York.
Health Justice
New York Birth Control Access Project trains young adults to become reproductive health advocates. A Trust grant helped the Project secure a major legislative victory in 2024 that allowed pharmacists in New York State to prescribe hormonal birth control.
Voces Latinas was founded with the mission to reduce the rate of HIV transmission and violence among immigrants. Its culturally responsive programs in health, prevention, and leadership training enable Latinas to advocate for their communities and make healthy decisions for themselves and their families.
WESTCHESTER: Birth from the Earth is dedicated to improving maternal health outcomes and wellness. It trains birth workers in Afro-Indigenous midwifery traditions, provides services to help prevent and manage medical complications, and leads research and education initiatives to address maternal health care disparities.
Safety from Gender-Based Violence
Garden of Hope serves immigrant survivors of gender-based violence, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. The nonprofit helps survivors, particularly Chinese-speaking women, overcome cultural, linguistic, and legal barriers to safety, stability, and dignity.
Jahajee is a gender justice organization that helps Indo-Caribbean communities in New York address intimate partner, family, and sexual violence through arts activism, leadership development, and grassroots organizing.
Empowering New Generations
Lower Eastside Girls Club of New York trains the next generation of ethical, entrepreneurial, and environmental leaders through free year-round programming and mentoring. Programs include STEM, arts, digital media, music, wellness, leadership, and college and career exploration.
LONG ISLAND: Moxxie Mentoring Foundation supports women’s career advancement and leadership development through generational mentoring. In the Junior Moxie program, students are matched with businesswomen for one-on-one mentoring sessions to grow their professional and soft skills.
